Installers’ Summit 2018 – the modern installer is thriving in the digital age
24 September 2018, Stockholm – On 20 -21 September, AIE’s and GCP Europe’s annual joint event, the Installers’ Summit, took place in Stockholm. With over 100 sector leaders participating from Europe and beyond, 10 strategic meetings and workshops, and an exciting conference line-up, this event was a huge success for both associations and installers across the EU.
“The Installers’ Summit is the highlight of the year for both AIE and GCP Europe – and this year’s summit shone brighter than ever. We are thrilled that so many leaders in our sectors were able to gather under one roof to engage in high-level discussions to shape the future of installers in Europe. The success of this event is a testament to the importance of the continued cooperation between both associations, and AIE and GCP Europe are more committed than ever to work on issues that impact installers of both sectors”, commented Karl-Walter Schuster, President of GCP Europe.
The timely theme of digitalisation set the stage for this year’s Installers’ Summit, and over the two days participants dove deep into all the challenges and opportunities that the digital age has to offer installers. From building engineering, to energy management, to new innovative business models – digitalisation impacts all aspects of an installers job from A to Z. Taking examples from across the value chain and across sectors, participants discovered the far-reaching influence of the digital age.
“The installation sector is often thought of as quite tradition, but this Summit clearly showed that installers can thrive in the digital age. Both HVAC and electrotechnical installers must embrace digitalisation instead of considering it a threat. Through the digital revolution, installers can serve to increase efficiency, safety, skills, business growth, customer satisfaction – yet, this is just a short list of all the benefits that the digital revolution has to offer our sector. While there will undoubtedly be challenges, we must educate ourselves in order to stay on the cutting-edge of digital trends and not be left behind – this Summit was an important step to building a new generation of modern installers”, stated Gérard Constantin, AIE’s newly elected President.
